About Us

We aren’t superstars, saints or celebrities. We aren’t popular, persuasive or proud. We are a bunch of local people, some old some young, some happy some sad, some weak and some strong.
But what unites us is what we’ve discovered about God – that he loves to draw all kinds of people together into a patchwork of friendships, laughter and action.
We love eating together, pitching in and getting our hands dirty, helping out when we can, patching up, mending our lives, our building and our dreams.
So if you’re worried about whether you would fit in, don’t! There’s probably someone here already just like you. And if there isn’t, then you’re just who we’re waiting for to add another spice to our variety.
It encourages us to read in the Bible about the people Jesus drew around him – how different they all were, not the obvious choices. Yet he stitched them together into something beautiful.
Come and join in with the patchwork he is making in Rye Park. No one is more welcome than you!

Regular events

Our services

We are open for worship on Sundays at 9am and 10.45, and on Thursdays at 9.30. Numbers are limited, and we have Covid-safe precautions in place. But you’re welcome to join us.

We are also worshipping online each weekday evening at 7pm – find us on Facebook

Our normal service pattern

9.30am Thursday – A traditional service of Holy Communion or Morning Prayer. Usually followed by coffee

9.00am Sunday – A traditional Holy Communion service with choir and organ. Usually followed by coffee.

10.45 Sunday – A more relaxed style of contemporary worship, led by a band. Special Branch offers activities for children and youth. Followed by coffee. Currently this service is also streamed online.

Children and Youth

Messy Church

  • is a church, not just a craft club
  • helps people encounter Jesus as Lord and Saviour
  • is found across the world
  • is Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration

St Cuthbert’s Messy Church happens the 2nd Friday every month.

Currently we are offering Messy Church in a Bag. Come down to church from 3.45 to collect your bag of craft activities, then go home to watch our video which goes live at 4.30. Go to the Messy Church Facebook page to request a bag – we’ll deliver if you can’t make it to church!

Soul Youth Ministry

Soul is for anyone from the age of 11 (or the Easter before you go to senior school) right up until you feel the desire to move on

We want to provide

  • A safe place where you’re loved for who you are
  • A safe place to explore the Bible and grow spiritually
  • A safe place to explore life’s issues
  • A place to have fun, be mad, be silly

Who are we here for?

  • Young members of our church family
  • Friends of our young people
  • Young people from other churches nearby
  • Young people who smell the pizza

So what’s happening?
Currently Soul meets online at 8pm on Zoom each Sunday. We usually just chill and chat although occasionally have a quiz or a discussion.

Interested?
Pop into church one Sunday and talk to a young person or a youth leader about how to get involved

Special Branch

A healthy tree has roots. Our roots are in Jesus.
The tree also has branches. This one is Special!
We meet every Sunday morning at Church. We start off with everyone else in the 10.45 service, and worship all together. Then we go and spend some time that’s just for us. Oh, I forgot to say what makes us special. We’re under 11 yrs old, which is a great time of life to learn about Jesus and to decide to be one of his friends.

Social outreach

Pop-in Tea

We offer a friendly place to come on the last Thursday of every month from 2pm – 4pm.
Some of us play cards, or Scrabble, while others sit and chat. It’s very informal and open to anyone to come. At about 3 o’clock we have a cuppa, sandwiches and cake.

On the other Thursdays we have a coffee morning from 11am for an hour.

On a Saturday near Christmas, we have a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, and usually we have some entertainment. If you’re interested in coming along, just turn up, or get in touch if you need more information.

Breakfast Club

In school holidays, we often open for breakfast – particularly aimed at families who rely on free school meals, but anyone is welcome
